Zen and the art of House hunting

Marcia and Burls house.jpg

When my friends/clients sold this Midtown Bend home, they had already started looking for a home to buy in Bellingham, WA. Like Bend, and other cities in the country, low interest rates, and the need for space was driving up demand for houses. They bid over asking, saw new listings immediately, lowered their expectations, and raised their budget, and still they kept missing out on houses. But they stayed calm, persistent, and hopeful.

I heard the same story from my buyers/friends from LA. They had chosen a neighborhood they wanted to live in, and were outbid, or facing roadblocks for months. Finally they decided to look in Bend, where they had family. They also knew that they could work remotely. In one visit, (after so much heartache in LA) they walked into a house in the Broken Top neighborhood and instantly felt connected. We wrote an offer, went through our due diligence, and now for the price of a cottage in LA, they own a spacious home to entertain family and friends on the 17th fairway in Broken Top. They couldn’t be happier.

My Bellingham friends? The day after Thanksgiving I received a text with a picture of this house…

They found their home! Be prepared. Be patient…. and Believe the right home will present itself!
