Bend life.

My 54th birthday is next week. I moved to Bend when I was 6. My mom, was raised in Redmond, OR, and she and my dad moved back here from Boise, after my brother was born. I’ve lived in other areas. Eugene, Santa Monica, Boston, Portland; but Bend has always been home, and I always said, (unlike others raised here in the 70’s and 80’s) that I would be back to raise my kids. These mountains, this air, the scent of Juniper and pine, the seasons. It’s hard to leave, and gets into your blood. As a realtor and a retailer, I share my local knowledge, but its somewhat vague….. The best spots are further away than they used to be. I mourn a few close favorites I used to love, but now have to visit strategically. I do believe however, that most people moving to Central Oregon are moving here for all of the right reasons. Fresh air, whole food, sound sleep and Love. The four basics that make for a happy, healthy life. If you are new to Bend, or plan to move here; dive in, explore, smile on the trail, get involved, and join this beautiful community with an open heart. There is enough wide open spaces to share.
