WESA in Dallas, TX.

Attending the Western Equestrian Sales Association show in August was a first for me (Despite the fact the show has been going since 1921) I was happy with my show results. I was able to meet third generation hat companies with factories in Mexico, find sources for leather hats, classic straw cowboy styles, and hip wool shapes.

One of my best experiences happened in the hotel bar after the show. My mom and I sat down with three ladies from Louisiana. Actually one was from Florida and she had a marketing and branding company specifically for the equine industry. The other two women were accomplished business women in other fields, with a four month old company. They were selling at WESA.

Gallaghers Water is the name of their brand. It’s a dry packet that you add to your horses water to get them to drink. It’s hydration for horses. I loved their story. These women are long time friends, and had the same problem… there were times when they were trailering their horse for long distances and the horses wouldn’t drink. By the time they reached their destination, their horses were dehydrated. So they got busy solving their problem, and developed a formula that horses love. The secret ingredient? Alfalfa leaves. They are manufacturing and distributing from Ohio. Their branding is beautiful, and their product is exciting! Check out their video and stop by the shop. I bought a case of Gallaghers Water packets to share. Maybe soon we will see them locally. Tell your local feed supply!

Entrepreneurial women. I love them.
