Weekend in Rajasthan

My Cousin Brenda has been living in Delhi for 4 years and had always heard how wonderful the Jaipur Literary Festival is. We happened to be coming that weekend.  Jaipur is called the Pink City and is surrounded by some of the best palaces and forts and shopping areas in India.  It is also near Agra, which is home to the Taj Mahal.

We drove to Jaipur on traffic choked pot holed roads. I reviewed the Festival schedule in the car and was ecstatic to see that Sheryl Strayed was a speaker! If you haven't read the book Wild go get it.  If you don't want to read the book, wait for the movie starring Reese Witherspoon, that was filmed in Bend to come out. This was huge for me. Traveling with a Diplomats wife has it's advantages. Great parking, free passes, a party at the Rambaugh Palace hosted by Penguin Books, and knowledge of the best places to see.
