Popina Swimwear at Cowgirl Cash

Really?  Swimming suits at a Western Vintage Boutique? Not just any swimming suits are being sold at Cowgirl Cash.  Popina. Retro suits made in Portland Oregon. And yes, these suits are fitting in quite nicely.  The retro dots, the sexy halters, the Marilyn-esque boy shorts, and the flirty swim skirts are finding their place nicely with the vintage boots and other made in Oregon products we've been selling since we opened 4 1/2 years ago. This is actually our 5th summer downtown, and with the loss of our local swimwear shop, I felt there was a need.

Here's some background on Popina and the owner, Pamela Levenson.

Pamela Levenson grew up in Vancouver, British Columbia and has worked in the garment industry for the past 20 years. This experience has provided her opportunities to work for Guess? Jeans in Los Angeles and Paris, as well as several large clothing companies in Oregon.

"I have always had a passion for 40’s and 1950’s Swimwear designs.  Reaching back to those eras for inspiration, I seek to create swim styles with the influence of days gone by with the convenience of today’s fabric innovations and modern bathing suit construction methods.

My first swim suit was created because I could not find a swimsuit I LOVED; a bathing suit that was fun, flattering and fashionable, so..... I decided to go off and make one (actually three or four) for myself.

Ten years later I am grateful to have the opportunity to continue to make swimwear that I love, it is very rewarding that many of you out there enjoy my styles too and many thanks to YOU for supporting me as an independent swimwear designer.

Come see us on Brooks St and try a suit or two.  We've got beverages and a comfy couch for your shopping partner.
