Super Powers and Fixers

I discovered nearly 10 years ago what my super power is. I learned the hard way. I was at a birthday party, and the birthday girl had hired an “Intuit” to come and read our cards. The whole night I was being delivered bad news. It was my “death year”, my “card” that I had drawn from the deck was a “crone”. Things were bad before the card reading. I was recently 50 and newly divorced. When the woman asked “what our Super Power was, I was speechless. I had nothing to say and no powers to share.

It was weeks, maybe months later, that it struck me that my super power is SEEING The GOOD In THINGS!

I ran my second hand store for 15 plus years, buying discarded things. I like old properties that need updates, I attract people who approach life differently, I dress in secondhand and sale item clothes. Tada!

So, with that said…. I’ve always wanted my own Cowgirl Property. A place to call my own, decorate myself, and fall back on if the shit ever hits the fan. Something small, easy, affordable, and All MINE. My mom has one. She inherited her parents house, and bought out my uncle so that it is all hers. I think owning a small adorable house in a sweet Eastern Oregon town is a nice addition to my “investment porfolio” too. My portfolio may not be big, but as of October 30, 2024, I own a 1000 sq ft Cowgirl property in Baker City, OR.

This house needs work. Lots of it. It wasn’t selling because buyers couldn’t see the good in it. Hence the price, and the length of time it is taking to get it fixed up, furnished and rented which is how I intend to afford my little Cowgirl property. Rent it furnished, and stay in it when I can.

I’ll post more later. Before and after shots. Please reach out if you have questions about Baker City, OR. With the stress of a remodel, also comes some very fun, creative and inspired moments. I love my project house, and I think my Super Power is serving me well.
